“God knew what it was going to cost him and yet he was still willing to go ahead and create you and I. Knowing that we would reject him. Knowing all of the pain that we would bring and usher into this world. And knowing what it would cost him. That it would cost him everything. God was in Christ, reconciling us to himself. God himself comes into this world. God himself takes on the consequences of our rebellion. God himself is willing to take on the punishment of what that rebellion deserves. And God himself is willing to be broken for us. And he gives himself to the cross. And he pays the price so that ultimately we won’t have to. And then he comes and finds us and offers us forgiveness as a gift. That is the price that God was willing to pay in order to create. It is the highest possible price he could have paid. This creation has cost him everything. He has held nothing back…. Look at the persons next to you.
Do you not think that God has overpaid for the final product that he got? This is the true mystery of the cross. The true mystery of the cross is that God was willing to pay such an enormously high price in order to rescue and save you and me.”
