I’ve driven roughly 12k miles in the last 4 months since I got my civic back in February. It had less than 28k on the meter when I got it and now it’s nearing the 40k mark. That means 100 miles a day on average. And assuming an average speed of 40 mph accounting for local and freeway plus LA traffic, that’s more or less 2.5 hours a day on the road. Craaazy. I don’t even take drives just to clear my head or think about something - it’s just that socal in general is so freeeakin’ spacious. This number will probably jack up even more once I start commuting to school and work in August. So in filling up this time, my iPod has been literally my best friend. Throw in a half hour karaoke sesh of Justin Bieber, I mean worship songs then a podcast and I can’t get to the destination fast enough sometimes. It’s definitely something I can’t take time to do if I wasn’t driving so I’m actually grateful.
Speaking of busting out karaoke sessions in the car, it’s pretty funny how at-home being inside your car can feel. I don’t think half the people realize that their windows are transparent. And you’d be surprised how many people pick their nose or do something ridiculous in slow traffic. I learned that driving against the sun makes your face completely visible to the car in front of you so you shouldn’t go too crazy. And writing this reminds me that my gas light is on and I have to fill up the tank tomorrow… bleh
